Job summary

Commonwealth Of Virginia seeks an Operator Maintenance Chesterfield to perform routine and emergency highway maintenance tasks. You will operate light, medium and heavy equipment, perform inspections and coordinate with crew to keep roadways clear and safe.

You must obtain a CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months, comply with DOT/VDOT policies, and follow MUTCD guidelines while ensuring a clean, orderly work site. Teamwork and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

Must communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Must obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months and maintain thereafter.
Able to perform heavy manual labor.
Able to read and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain light, medium and heavy-duty highway equipment.
Prepare equipment for snow removal and other emergencies; provide traffic control.
Maintain safe work environment per MUTCD and safety regulations.
Perform pre-trip inspections and preventive maintenance.
Participate as a crew member to complete projects and tasks.
Assist in inventory and record-keeping for equipment and parts.
