Job summary

Commonwealth Of Virginia seeks an Emergency Operations worker to support snow and ice removal along roadways. The role requires standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, skid steers and tractors.

You will perform stand-by duties during day or night shifts, respond to emergencies, and conduct basic preventative maintenance on field equipment as needed. Training in emergency operations or snow removal is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions with reliability.
• Safety-focused and able to work long shifts in variable conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform stand-by duties for call-in work to support storm prep and snow removal.
• Assist and support emergency operations to clear snow and ice on road surfaces.
• Perform heavy manual labor including installation of equipment such as tire chains, plows, and blades.
• Perform duties as assigned and participate in tasks as directed.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on equipment used in inclement weather to support operations.
