Job description

Highway Inspector

Location: Twickenham

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week). Flexible start and finish times.

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Car Allowance + Generous benefits package.

Role Requirements
  • Previous surveying/inspection experience in the field.
  • Strong attention to detail and report-writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Background in Highways, Streetworks or Utilities sectors is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Inspect & Assess: Conduct surveys and highway inspections of cycle routes and public paths to ensure safety and compliance with legislative standards.
  2. Solve Problems: Address issues such as fly-tipping, graffiti, and littering to promote cleaner, safer streets.
  3. Enforce Standards: Collaborate with local authorities and adhere to legislation to maintain the borough’s aesthetic and functional standards.
  4. Drive Change: Review and improve safety protocols and data collection systems to enhance maintenance practices.
  5. Collaborate: Engage with stakeholders and the public to deliver excellent customer service.
Candidate Profile

We seek someone experienced in conducting inspections and surveys within construction or highway environments, motivated to make a positive impact on urban infrastructure.

Essential Requirements
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience in Highway, Utility, or Street work inspections or surveys.
  • Ability to produce detailed reports for action planning.
  • Knowledge of H&S guidelines.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Current NRSWA (New Roads Street Works Act) or SWQR (Street Works Qualification Register) cards.
  • Experience with Tier 1 Highways construction or maintenance companies.
  • Understanding of urban planning and sustainability policies.
