Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Highway Engineer to support a South London council with Local Implementation Plan schemes, CPZs and wider highway/traffic projects across the borough. The role involves site surveys, CAD design, public consultations, committee reporting and liaison with residents, councillors, contractors and external stakeholders to ensure schemes are delivered in accordance with legislation.

This is a 6-month contract with office attendance of two days per week, based in South

Qualifications

• Experience in highway engineering, parking design or traffic management.
• Experience designing and implementing CPZs, parking restrictions and on-street parking schemes.
• Knowledge of TMOs, traffic signs and carriageway markings.
• Experience producing highway or parking scheme designs using CAD.
• Understanding of highways legislation and statutory consultation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor on-street parking schemes and road safety projects.
• Undertake site visits and traffic surveys to assess conditions and develop solutions.
• Prepare detailed design plans using CAD and digital maps.
• Manage public consultations and report to committees with recommendations.
• Coordinate with residents, councillors, contractors and external stakeholders.
