Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited seeks a highways-focused professional to support the Council’s Development Control function in Colindale, London. You will assess development proposals for highway and transport impacts, manage highway agreements, and ensure new assets are delivered and adopted in line with regulations.

The role requires strong technical engineering expertise, site supervision, and the ability to coordinate with planning, legal and asset management teams.

Qualifications

• ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of two years’ post-graduate experience within highways, transport, development management or civil engineering.
• Experience with Section 38, Section 278, and highway development schemes.

Responsibilities

• Assess highway and transport implications of planning applications and development proposals.
• Provide expert highways and engineering advice to officers, developers and stakeholders.
• Manage highway agreements and adoption processes (Section 38/278/184).
• Review and approve highway design submissions and construction details.
• Lead site inspections and supervise highway works to ensure compliance with standards.
• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates and professional correspondence.
