Job summary

A leading infrastructure consultancy based in Greater London is seeking a Highways Design Engineer to join their London North team. This role involves working on major projects and offers a varied client base, opportunities for professional growth, and exposure to significant industry standards and regulations. Ideal candidates should have a civil engineering degree, experience in highway design, and strong technical skills. Qualifications

• Hold or be working towards an appropriate professional qualification (IEng / CEng etc).
• Ability to compile specifications and Bills of Quantities (BoQ).
• Full UK/EEC driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to engineering projects exceeding £1m from initiation to completion.
• Design experience in highways and contribute to local government projects.
• Mentorship and training for professional or academic qualifications.
• Utilise AutoCAD and Civil 3D for engineering design work and documentation.
• Adhere to CDM regulations and national design standards (DMRB, TSRGD, etc).

• Working knowledge of Local Authority and national design standards and contracts
• Working knowledge of CDM (Construction Design Management) regulations
• Ability to contribute to engineering projects with values exceeding £1m from initiation through to completion with support of a senior engineer.
• Computer literate particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience of the NEC suite of contract documents
• Knowledge of highway design guidance and standards including DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, TSRGD, MCHW and other relevant codes of practice and design standards
• Ability to compile specifications and Bills of Quantities (BoQ)
• Proficient in AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience would be advantageous)
• Full UK/EEC driving licence

Qualifications:

• Educated to HND or degree level in civil engineering BEng/Meng (or equivalent)
• Hold or be working towards an appropriate professional qualification (IEng / CEng etc).
