Overview

Our Speech and Language Therapy Team situated in the London Borough of Redbridge has an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join us on a part-time basis in our Mainstream Schools Team. The post is ideal for an established Band 7 therapist or a Band 6 therapist looking to progress to Band 7 pending competency.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a service for children aged 4‑18 presenting with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties within mainstream schools.
  • Lead the team to develop the mainstream schools and Buy‑in Schools provision and care pathway in Redbridge.
  • Take a lead role in providing and developing the SLT assessment service to school‑aged children with speech, language and communication needs and an intervention service to schools choosing to buy‑in SLT.
  • Independently manage own and others’ workload in day‑to‑day allocation of work.
  • Work closely with clients' carers, families and professionals to raise awareness, knowledge and skills related to strategies that improve outcomes across settings.
  • Make highly specialist clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases.
  • Plan and implement specialist packages of support and intervention.
  • Provide clinical support and supervision for SLT’s working in clinic and mainstream school settings.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in health, social care and education services in Redbridge.
  • Provide specialist knowledge, advice, training and teaching to parents, carers, students and the SLT team.
Qualifications
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent and relevant professional registration.
  • Provide an advanced standard of assessment, clinical diagnosis, treatment and management of communication difficulties in children.
  • Devising and delivering appropriate, highly specialist intervention/care plans of speech and language therapy for clients.
  • Experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist in mainstream schools.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work as an effective multi‑disciplinary team member.
  • Experience in supervising other team members.

Working Conditions

This post will be subject to a probationary period and includes a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,714 and a maximum £5,941 per annum, pro‑rata for part‑time).
