Job summary

The Shropshire Reset/Rough Sleepers service offers an opportunity for a Psychologist to provide clinical services directly to individuals with complex alcohol/substance misuse, mental health issues, homelessness, and their families or carers. The role involves supporting the service and its staff.

You will employ strategies to enhance the psychological well-being of service users and their families or carers. Participation in multi-agency RESET meetings is expected to provide guidance, signposting, and clinical expertise to the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Your responsibilities include conducting assessments, formulating treatment plans, providing trauma-informed psychological understanding and interventions, and offering reflective supervision and staff support.

You will deliver specialized clinical psychology services within the Substance Misuse pathway for adults, working independently at the team base, NHS settings, or clients' homes as needed. Effective communication of complex information in emotive situations and overcoming psychological resistances are essential skills.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide expert psychological assessments and reports to referrers, adhering to professional ethics.
  • Deliver high-standard psychological formulation and therapy for clients with various mental health issues.
  • Develop and implement plans for psychological interventions based on appropriate frameworks and proven methods across diverse care settings.
  • Manage a specialist caseload independently, making priority decisions and clinical judgments.
  • Act as a care coordinator when appropriate, planning and reviewing care plans under enhanced CPA.
  • Risk assess clients with complex needs and advise other professionals on psychological risk management.
  • Contribute to a psychologically informed framework of understanding and care across all service settings and agencies.
