The Division of Psychology and Psychological Therapies, alongside the Trust commitment to developing a trauma informed approach, is pleased to recruit into this post offering a real opportunity to bring these principles into our new wards, Kingfisher (male PICU) and Audrey House (female Enhanced Care Unit).

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to take a senior role within the inpatient services where an enhanced level of input is required. We are looking for a motivated and committed person who understands and enjoys the challenges and opportunities of working with people at times of crisis and where people are often in high levels of distress. We will also consider applications from Band 7 Clinical Psychologists, with appropriate experience in acute services, as a development role working towards an 8a.

We encourage applications from Clinical Psychologists who have experience of working with people with complex difficulties and with people in acute distress. We are looking for someone who will be committed to promoting psychological ideas within a multi-disciplinary team.

Main Duties of the Job

You will be working alongside other experienced clinicians and have the opportunity to provide direct clinical work for complex cases and offer advice and consultation to other professionals working within the service. The post holder will also contribute to shaping the vision of the service, i.e. by developing and delivering training to staff, under the supervision of the Principal Clinical Psychologist. This role will also enable you to build on audit and research skills, contribute to how the team implements policies and procedures, and contribute to service development. Our service is exploring ways to enhance trauma informed principles within all aspects of service delivery, and this is a great opportunity to play a part in further developments.

Applicants will be considered from band 7 Clinical Psychologists as a developmental opportunity into an 8A role. Band 7 Clinical Psychologists will only be considered with relevant experience in an acute inpatient setting. If you are applying for a band 7 post, please make it clear in your supporting evidence which post you are applying for.
