Job description

Duration of Contract: Fixed term for 12 months

Hours per week: 35 hours per week (Full Time)

Location: Sutton

Under the guidance of Dr. Alec Paschalis, we are seeking to recruit a Higher Scientific Officer to contribute to providing technical support to the Translational and Experimental Medicine Group in identifying novel therapeutic targets and evaluating therapeutic agents in preclinical development using in vitro cell culture and near-patient models.

About you

The successful candidate must have:

  • Three or more years of training in molecular/cellular biology.
  • BSc in biological sciences (first class honours).
  • Practical skills in cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Enthusiasm to work in an interdisciplinary environment towards developing improved cancer therapies.

Clinical Studies Division

Dr. Alec Paschalis is a Clinician Scientist and Leader of the Translational and Experimental Medicine Group. His team focuses on identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities in advanced cancers to drive the development of novel biology-driven ‘Proof of Concept’ and ‘Proof of Mechanism’ clinical studies to improve patient outcomes. The team comprises basic and clinical scientists within a vibrant, world-class research environment.
