Job summary

West Moors Middle School in Dorset is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our supportive team. The role is 32.5 hours per week and focuses on providing targeted support to pupils, including one-to-one work and phonics/early reading when needed.

You will work to build confidence, promote an inclusive ethos, and participate in training and school activities. DBS check and safeguarding commitment required.

  • assist with the management of pupils outside the classroom e.g. lunch times and outside the school e.g. school trips as directed by the class teacher and member of the school’s management, and attend meetings as required

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

32.5 hours per week

Do you love supporting children to learn? We have an amazing opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our school. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain experience of the breadth of engagement in young people’s lives and receive comprehensive training and support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Establish productive relationships with pupils, responding to the needs of each individual child, acting as a role model and setting high expectations

You will be expected to work in such as to promote the ethos and vision of the school, participate in training and development, and activities that contribute to the management of performance. You will also be asked to assist with the management of pupils outside the classroom e.g. lunch times and outside the school e.g. school trips as directed by the class teacher and member of the school’s management, and attend meetings as required.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

West Moors Middle Schoolwill conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
