Job summary

Premier Education is seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support a vibrant primary school in Wigan from September 2026. This is a full-time, ongoing role within a wonderful school that prides itself on its inclusive ethos, strong leadership and commitment to pupil success.

The HLTA will provide high-quality classroom support, deliver planned lessons, lead groups, and work closely with teachers to ensure positive outcomes for all learners.

Qualifications

  • HLTA qualification or QTS held or equivalent experience in primary school.
  • Recent experience supporting teaching/learning in primary settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality classroom support across the primary age range.
  • Deliver planned lessons and interventions when the class teacher is absent.
  • Lead small group and whole-class activities when required.
  • Support pupils' academic progress, wellbeing and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff and senior leaders to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusive learning environments.

Premier Education is seeking an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a vibrant and well-established primary school from September 2026. This is a full-time, ongoing role within a wonderful school that prides itself on its inclusive ethos, strong leadership and commitment to pupil success.

This would be the perfect role for recently qualified teachers (ECTs) to get their foot in the door or experienced teachers looking to dial back responsibilities.

The Role
  • Provide high-quality classroom support across the primary age range.
  • Deliver planned lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Lead small group and whole-class learning activities when required.
  • Support pupils' academic progress, wellbeing and engagement.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff and senior leaders to ensure positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to an inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Hold a HLTA qualification or QTS and have equivalent experience within a primary school setting.
  • Have recent experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary school.

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be proactive, adaptable and committed to supporting children's learning and development.
