Job summary

E-ACT Shenley Academy in Birmingham is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide classroom support, promote inclusion and work with teaching staff to help pupils access learning with confidence and encouragement.

Key duties include implementing learning activities, supervising pupils (including those with special needs) and supporting social and emotional wellbeing, under guidance. This is a permanent, full-time role based at the academy.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English minimum grade 4 or equivalent.
  • TA2 qualification or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting a child/children in a school setting and relevant age range.
  • Ability to work with an individual child or a group.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher.

  • Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour plans and Personal Care programs under the supervision and guidance of teaching staff
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs

Pay range:

SCP 7 - 11 £23,988.23 - £25,568.74 (FTE: £27,274.00 - £29,071.00)

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Qualifications and Skills:

  • GCSE Maths and English minimum grade 4 or equivalent
  • TA2 qualification or equivalent or relevant experience
  • Relevant educational experience supporting a child/children in a school setting and the relevant age range
