Randstad UK is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for Haywards Heath on a part-time basis. The role focuses on leading classroom learning without planning, with materials supplied by class teachers. A long-term placement offers a clear pathway to permanent contract and a supportive school environment.

The successful candidate will deliver lessons, maintain momentum, manage behaviour, and collaborate with staff to support pupils of all abilities. Immediate DBS update is preferred.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or Level 4 teaching qualification required.

• Recent enhanced DBS check or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead whole-class learning sessions and cover planned teacher release time using provided lesson plans.
• Deliver engaging lessons, follow existing curriculum schemes, and maintain classroom momentum.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies to ensure a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to provide comprehensive support for pupils of all abilities.

Qualifications

• Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead a whole class independently (as an HLTA, Cover Supervisor, or Unqualified Teacher).
• Relevant Certification: HLTA status, Level 4 Certificate, or substantial classroom-based leadership experience.
• Behaviour Management: Strong ability to establish authority quickly and maintain high standards of respect.
• Flexibility: An adaptable approach to working across different year groups and subjects.
• Compliance: An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
