Job summary

ANZUK Education are seeking a confident HLTA to Weston-super-Mare to lead KS1/KS2 lessons when required and to support lesson preparation. The role involves direct teaching, pupil support and contributing to learning outcomes.

The position offers £100-£120 per day on a temporary contract, with responsibilities including delivering pre-planned lessons, coordinating activities, and providing feedback to staff and parents while following school policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum six months of hands-on experience with children in an educational setting.
  • DBS certificate to meet safeguarding standards.
  • Legal entitlement to work in the United Kingdom with appropriate documentation.
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse learners.
  • Patience, empathy and dedication to supporting children, including SEN/SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

Job role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Weston Super Mare

Pay Range: £100 - £120 per day

Contract Type: Temporary

The HLTA role:

ANZUK Education are seeking confident, skilled professionals ready to step into a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant role, taking on a more involved position within the classroom. This includes leading KS1 and/or KS2 lessons when required, supporting lesson preparation, and contributing directly to teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities of a HLTA:
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons to pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) in the absence of the teacher
  • Assisting pupils in their learning and helping prepare the classroom
  • Coordinating group activities with various groups of pupils
  • Working in accordance with the school's policies
  • Providing frequent feedback to both parents and other members of staff
The ideal HLTA will:
  • Demonstrate a minimum of six months of hands-on experience working with children in an educational setting
  • Hold an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of safeguarding
  • Legal entitlement to work in the United Kingdom, with appropriate documentation
  • Demonstrate proficient communication and interpersonal skills, highlighting the skill to engage with students of varied learning needs
  • Display patience, empathy, and a genuine dedication to supporting children, especially those with SEN and SEMH requirements
  • Capable of collaborating effectively within a team, cultivating an inclusive learning environment
