Higher Level Teaching Assistant | Portsmouth | Primary Schools | £100-£120 per day | ASAP Start

Reeson Education is looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who can keep learning moving during class cover in primary schools across Portsmouth, Hampshire.

We would welcome an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant who enjoys a varied role, balancing whole-class responsibility with focused support for pupils.

Role Highlights for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Pay: £100-£120 per day, depending on experience and assignment.

Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Start: ASAP, following registration and safeguarding checks.

Contract: Flexible supply and longer-term opportunities, depending on vacancies.

Your Role as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

You will provide prepared class cover, including PPA or other agreed cover, and support pupils through classroom work and targeted interventions.

Deliver prepared lessons and adapt explanations when pupils need more support.

Lead one-to-one and small-group literacy and numeracy activities.

Maintain positive behaviour and inclusive classroom routines.

Assess understanding and leave clear feedback on learning and next steps.

What We're Looking For in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

A HLTA qualification or substantial classroom experience suitable for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role, including leading a class.

A Higher Level Teaching Assistant who is organised, adaptable and confident managing a classroom.

Primary curriculum knowledge and experience adapting support for pupils with SEND.

Safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
