Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support primary schools across the Havering borough in East London, including Romford, Hornchurch, Upminster and Rainham.

You will combine planned class cover with targeted small-group interventions and one-to-one support, taking ownership of learning and providing timely progress feedback to teachers. A HLTA qualification or strong classroom experience is essential, with safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS desirable.

• Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
• Pay: 120- 130 per day, depending on experience and assignment.
• Location: Havering, East London.
• Start: ASAP, following registration and safeguarding checks.
• Contract: Flexible supply and longer-term opportunities, depending on vacancies.

Your Role as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

You will combine prepared whole-class teaching, including PPA cover, with classroom support and targeted one-to-one or small-group interventions.

• Deliver planned lessons with clear expectations and appropriate challenge.
• Adapt learning activities to support pupils at different starting points.
• Lead interventions and help pupils build confidence and independence.
• Monitor understanding and provide teachers with accurate progress feedback.

What We're Looking For in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

• An HLTA qualification or substantial classroom experience suitable for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role.
• A Higher Level Teaching Assistant with proven class-cover experience and effective behaviour management.
• Strong organisation, primary curriculum knowledge and clear communication.
• Safeguarding awareness and an enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
