Job summary

Carlton le Willows Academy is seeking a HLTA to join our team on a full-time, temporary basis until August 2027. You will complement teachers' delivery, assist in planning cycles, prepare resources and supervise classes during short-term absences, aiming to raise standards for all learners.

You will provide support across the Enhanced Provision Unit with a science specialism, contribute to pupil welfare, inclusion, and academy policies, and work closely with staff to develop learners’

Qualifications

Job description

Carlton le Willows are looking to appoint a HLTA to join our academy as soon as possible on a full time, temporary basis until August 2027.

Your new role

As a HLTA, you will complement teachers' delivery of the curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils and academy policies and strategies. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist them in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. You will supervise whole classes during the short term absence of teachers. You will provide support to pupils, teachers and the academy in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilising your advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes and to encourage pupils to become independent learners. You will provide support for pupil welfare and support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of academy life.

Results

With a consistent record of high academic attainment, Carlton le Willows remains one of the top performing schools in the area, achieving the best ever results in the school's history this summer. Results for 2025 saw 85% of students achieve a Grade 4 or above in English and Maths, compared with a 65% national average. In total 69% of students secured a strong pass of a Grade 5 or above in those two core subjects, far exceeding the national average of 46% and meaning we are placed well above similar schools nationally.

A level students in our high performing sixth form also celebrated strong results with more than 91% of the cohort securing a place at their first choice university, retaining our reputation for academic excellence post 16.
