Job summary

Hays Education is partnering with a mainstream school in Liverpool to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time role in Anfield. You will deliver high-quality learning activities in the absence of the teacher and provide targeted support to pupils, including those with special educational needs.

Working alongside the class teacher and SENCo, you will implement targets from EHCPs and support plans, plan adaptable activities, and assess pupil progress while promoting

Qualifications

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience leading learning activities within a classroom.
  • Experience working with children with SEND in mainstream or specialist settings.

Responsibilities

  • Support communication, language development, and social interaction.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.

  • Deliver high-quality learning activities to individuals, groups, and whole classes in the absence of the teacher
  • Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement targets from EHCPs, IEPs, and support plans
  • Plan, prepare, and adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs
  • Assess, record, and report on pupils' progress and attainment

Previous Experience Required

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • Previous experience leading learning activities within a classroom environment
