A leading company in the education sector is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a Secondary Alternative Provision setting in Burnley. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Secondary Alternative Provision
Location:Burnley
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £13.75 per hour
We are looking for a confident and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a Secondary Alternative Provision (AP) setting for pupils aged 11–16. This role involves covering a variety of classes from Year 7 to Year 11, providing both academic and emotional support to students with complex needs.
About the Setting:
Alternative Provisions cater to students who are unable to attend mainstream education, often due to behavioural, social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) challenges. These settings offer a supportive environment focused on helping pupils re-engage with learning, build confidence, and make progress at their own pace.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering and supporting lessons across different subjects and year groups
Stepping in for teacher absence with appropriate planning and support
Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs in the classroom
Encouraging positive engagement, emotional regulation, and independent learning
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
What We’re Looking For:
HLTA qualification or relevant experience at HLTA level
Strong classroom management and adaptability
Confidence in leading lessons and supporting varied learner needs
Experience working with pupils with behavioural or emotional challenges is desirable
A calm, patient, and professional approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
