Are you an experienced professional in construction management or civil engineering with a passion for developing the next generation of industry leaders? We are seeking an Apprentice Trainer for Higher Construction to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of the construction industry.
There are no classroom teaching responsibilities with this role, but you will be required to address groups of students and have a structured approach to providing clear and accurate instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess apprentices in Higher Construction (Level 4 and above) in accordance with approved College standards and applicable validating/moderating bodies. Prepare assessment materials, schemes of work, and assessment plans. Support the development and implementation of the curriculum, undertake quality assurance, assess students' written and practical work, monitor progress, and report on their progress, including writing reviews of students' Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Record, report, and disseminate assessment grades and results in liaison with College staff, parents, carers, employers, and professional agencies. Maintain good order in the teaching environment, including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
- Liaise with relevant departments (e.g., Exams, MIS, ALS) to ensure compliance and consistency across sites.
- Visit students in their workplace, set skill development targets, monitor progress, and assess competency according to awarding organization criteria.
- Assist with recruitment and selection, manage enrolment procedures, and ensure students are registered on the correct courses and levels. Organize and implement induction programs.
- Conduct initial consultations with employers, complete skills scans, and ensure apprentices' responsibilities are aligned with their learning programs.
- Hold regular meetings with students to set and review SMART targets, support UCAS applications, and address pastoral needs.
- Monitor attendance and results, coordinate course performance monitoring, and develop action plans where necessary.
- Promote and support English and Maths learning, both in class and individually.
- Attend various meetings and events, plan review and progress meetings, and report outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop courses and training materials, participate in CPD activities, and mentor staff as needed.
- Assist with departmental administration, including updating records, producing reports, and participating in quality assurance processes.
