Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Infectious Diseases
Duration: 12 months rolling fixed term
Rota: Full time with on calls @ LRI & LGH
UK Experience & minimum MRCP part 1 is ESSENTIAL to apply.
The post is based at Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary. You will be expected to be part of the medical on‑call rota at the General for two weeks in a row, followed by two weeks of clinical research time at the Royal.
We particularly welcome applicants who have a future interest in an academic clinical career and/or specialty training in Infection (Infectious Diseases / Microbiology / Virology). There is potential to undertake a higher research degree (MD).
The Pareek group is a well‑established research group nationally, with work spanning infectious diseases screening and prevention programmes (especially TB, HIV and viral hepatitis), HIV and cardiovascular outcomes, respiratory viruses, healthcare worker outcomes, TB, migrant health and health‑inequalities/policy research.
The research role involves designing and conducting observational cohort or interventional studies in any of these fields, applying epidemiological and economic evaluation methods, working with healthcare and community partners and contributing to policy‑relevant outputs.

Your normal place of work will be as discussed at interview and will be confirmed in Section 1 of your contract but you may be required to work in other locations of the Trust. In particular, flexibility is required across the three main Hospital sites (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital, Glenfield Hospital). If your initial location is based at one of these sites, excess travel reimbursement will not apply for a permanent/temporary change to base.
