Job summary

NRL in Redcar is seeking a skilled High Voltage Electrician to join the Steel River Power operations team on the Teesworks site.

The role focuses on installing, maintaining and fault-finding high voltage systems to ensure uninterrupted energy delivery in a large private network.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid electrical qualification as a electrician.
  • Experience with high-voltage maintenance, installation and fault finding.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair high voltage systems including switchgear, transformers and cables.
  • Carry out inspections and preventive maintenance for optimal performance.
  • Perform high voltage testing and fault diagnostics to ensure reliability of control and protection equipment.
  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance in industrial and commercial environments.
  • Ensure compliance with UK electrical regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain documentation of works and safety reports.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and provide troubleshooting support.
  • Collaborate with contractors and engineers to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

Managing a large distribution network, our mission is to ensure uninterrupted and efficient energy delivery to customers. We’re looking for a skilled High Voltage Electrician to join their operations team in Redcar. This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys working on high-voltage systems and ensuring safe, compliant maintenance and fault resolution. Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain and repair high voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers and cables.

  • Perform high voltage testing, fault finding and diagnostics to ensure control and protection equipment reliability.
  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance within industrial and commercial environments.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all electrical works and safety reports.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and provide troubleshooting support when required.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, engineers and stakeholders to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Must-have Requirements
  • Qualified Electrician.
  • Proven experience in high-voltage maintenance, installation and fault finding.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Experience working in industrial or utility environments.
  • Familiarity with IT systems for maintenance reporting and feedback.
