Job summary

Academics are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in a primary school in Welwyn Garden City. Salary £100-£110 per day, with the flexibility and variety of supply work. The HLTA will support teachers and pupils while gaining experience across different schools.

Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Salary: £100-£110 per day

You'll have the opportunity to take on a higher level of responsibility within different primary school settings, supporting teachers and pupils while gaining experience across a range of schools.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting teachers with the planning and delivery of engaging lessons.
• Leading whole-class sessions and lessons when required.
• Working with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
• Supporting pupils with different learning needs and abilities.
• Providing cover for classes when required.
• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Supporting pupils to stay focused, motivated and engaged with their learning.
• Working closely with teachers and other members of staff to support pupil progress.
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and schools across different settings.
• Adapting quickly to different classrooms, year groups and school environments.

• Has experience working as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA or in a similar education role.
• Has a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning.
• Is confident leading lessons, groups and classroom activities.
• Has strong behaviour management skills.
• Is reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Has a patient, supportive and confident approach.
• Can work independently as well as part of a wider school team.
• Has a good understanding of the primary school curriculum.
