Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a permanent HGV Workshop Technician for the Stakeford Depot in Choppington. You will maintain council vehicles and plant to MOT and LGV testing standards, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Role requires experience with DVSA standards and diagnostic methods; you will diagnose faults via road tests, inspections and diagnostic software, performing repairs accordingly.

Qualifications

• Level 3 or equivalent in subjects relevant to vehicle and plant maintenance.
• Understanding of DVSA standards and maintenance requirements with respect to operator licensing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Council vehicles and plant to MOT and LGV testing station standards.
• Diagnose faults by road testing, visual inspections and use of computerised diagnostic software.
• Ensure repairs and servicing meet legal and safety requirements.

Job description

We are looking for a permanent, full time, time served, HGV Workshop Technician to join our team at our Stakeford Depot, Choppington, NE62 5TR.

You will work to achieve the efficient and effective maintenance of the Council's vehicles and plant by preparing all vehicles to M.O.T and LGV testing station standards

You must be fully conversant with the maintenance / diagnostics and repair of LGV "O" LICENCE vehicles (7.5t upto 44t).

You are to diagnose faults by road testing vehicles, visual inspections, by use of computerised diagnostic software and any other method agreed by industrial standards.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

• You must hold a Level 3 or equivalent in subjects relevant to vehicle and plant maintenance and have an understanding of DVSA standards and maintenance requirements with respect to operator licensing.
