Job summary

Northumberland County Council (NCC) is seeking a permanent, full-time HGV Workshop Technician to join the team at Stakeford Depot, Choppington. You will maintain NCC vehicles and plant, preparing them to MOT and LGV testing standards, with a focus on diagnosing faults via road tests, visual checks and diagnostic software.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in vehicle/plant maintenance and a solid understanding of DVSA standards and operator licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Level 3 or equivalent in subjects relevant to vehicle and plant maintenance.
• Understanding of DVSA standards and operator licensing maintenance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain NCC vehicles and plant to ensure reliability and MOT readiness.
• Prepare all vehicles to MOT and LGV testing station standards.
• Diagnose faults by road testing, visual inspections and with computerised diagnostic software.

We are looking for a permanent, full time, time served, HGV Workshop Technician to join our teamat ourStakeford Depot, Choppington, NE62 5TR.

You will work to achieve the efficient and effective maintenance of the Council's vehicles and plant by preparing all vehicles to M.O.T and LGV testing station standards

You must be fully conversant with the maintenance / diagnostics and repair of LGV "O" LICENCE vehicles (7.5t upto 44t).

You are to diagnose faults by road testing vehicles, visual inspections, by use of computerised diagnostic software and any other method agreed by industrial standards.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

• You must hold a Level 3 or equivalent in subjects relevant to vehicle and plant maintenance and have an understanding of DVSA standards and maintenance requirements with respect to operator licensing.
