Job summary

Kautec Recruitment is seeking a qualified HGV Workshop Engineer for an early shift in Reading. You will inspect, maintain and repair a varied fleet, including HGVs, RCVs and trailers.

The role emphasizes high standards, upskilling opportunities and delivering first-class service to clients. Ideal candidates will be fully qualified (City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent) with additional accreditations such as IRTEC or EV qualification, and a driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2) would be desirable.

Qualifications

• Ideally fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.
• Desirable accreditations: IRTEC or EV qualification.
• A HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on a varied fleet including HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, and trailers.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure DVSA standards are met.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and 6- or 8-week inspections.
• Identify and correct running defects; diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
• Work on chassis, fabrication, hydraulics and pneumatics; ensure vehicle standards are improved.
• Conduct electrical and wiring inspections and corrections.

We are looking for qualified and time served Heavy Technicians who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGV#s) refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers and tippers-

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to)

• Routine (and preventative) maintenance
• MOT preparation
• Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
• 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
• Correction of running defects
• Chassis and fabrication work
• Hydraulics and pneumatics
