Job summary

Hireco (TL) Ltd is looking for an Experienced HGV Trailer Technician to join our team across Lancaster, Kendal and Preston. You will inspect, service and repair trailers to VOSA and company standards, completing defect reports and paperwork efficiently.

Ideal candidates have IRTEC or Level 3 HGV qualifications, with 5 years' experience, a valid driving licence, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Overtime available and a company van provided.

Qualifications

• IRTEC certification or Level 3 qualification with Heavy Goods Vehicles (ideally with experience working with trailers).
• Driving Licence essential.
• Experience with welding preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing, and repair of trailers to VOSA and company standards.
• Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements.
• Conduct on-site maintenance checks, initial vehicle diagnostics, and minor repairs as a Mobile technician.
• Ensuring the correct and effective safe use of all tools and ancillary equipment.
• Completing all job cards and compliance paperwork to a high standard ensuring the correct information is submitted in a timely manner.
• Always provide excellent customer service.

With over 40 years of experience, Hireco are specialist in the trailer, truck and van market. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 year’s experience in a similar role.

The Job Role: Experienced HGV Trailer Technicians Required - based in various locations: Lancaster, Kendal, and Preston. Carrying out Trailer Inspections / MOT Preparations, Defects and Quality Control Inspections.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out inspections, servicing, and repair of trailers to VOSA and company standards. Completion of defect reports and associated paperwork to comply with legal requirements.
• Conduct on-site maintenance checks, initial vehicle diagnostics, and minor repairs as a Mobile technician.
• Ensuring the correct and effective safe use of all tools and ancillary equipment.
• Completing all job cards and compliance paperwork to a high standard ensuring the correct information is submitted in a timely manner.
• Always provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards, carrying out any other duties deemed reasonable by management.
• Complete any additional training when necessary.

Job Skills Required:

• An IRTEC certification or a Level 3 qualification with Heavy Goods Vehicles (ideally with experience working with trailers), or time served as an HGV Technician/ Trailer Technician, is preferred.
• Experience with Welding is preferable but not essential.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office.
• Self-motivated, proactive problem solver, excellent communicator, and able to work independently while meeting strict targets.
• Ability to understand and complete written paperwork required.
• Driving Licence essential.

Experience:

• HGV Technician: 5 years (preferred)
• Licence/Certification: An IRTEC Certification or Level 3 Qualification as an HGV Technician (preferred)
• HGV Driving Licence (preferred)
• Driving Licence (Essential)

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Overtime (paid at time and a half)
