Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced HGV Trailer Technician in Pontefract. You will inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a range of trailers, ensuring DVSA compliance and high workmanship. This is a permanent, full-time role, Monday to Friday with no weekend work.

Requirements include a full UK driving licence and prior HGV trailer experience. Benefits include £19 per hour, overtime, pension and on-site parking, plus training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of trailer braking systems, suspension, lighting and running gear.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGV trailers.
• Perform safety inspections and prepare trailers for MOT testing.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, braking, suspension and electrical faults.
• Complete preventative maintenance and defect rectification.
• Maintain accurate job cards and service records.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet workshop deadlines.

Location: Pontefract

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Pay Rate: £19.00 per hour -overtime paid at x 1.5 and readily available

Job Overview for the Trailer Technician

We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Trailer Technician to join our busy workshop team. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday with no weekend work required. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out inspections, servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of commercial trailers, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with DVSA regulations.

Key Responsibilities of the Trailer Technician

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGV trailers.
• Perform safety inspections and prepare trailers for MOT testing.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, braking, suspension, and electrical faults.
• Complete preventative maintenance and defect rectification.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate job cards and service records.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet workshop deadlines.
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures.

Requirements of the Trailer Technician

• Previous experience as an HGV Trailer Technician, Trailer Mechanic, or similar role.
• Good knowledge of trailer braking systems, suspension, lighting, and running gear.
• Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
