Qualifications

  • Completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience in the commercial vehicle industry.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures.
  • Assist in fault diagnosis and comply with warranty procedures.
  • Support the development of trainees and apprentices.

Salary up to £19 per hour dependent upon skill set and experience!!

Shift pattern is Monday to Friday 6 am – 2 pm / 2- 10 pm with alternative Saturdays paid at overtime.

As an HGV technician, you will be joining our Service & Workshop team at our Volvo Truck and Bus Centre, ensuring repairs are carried out according to Volvo's standards. Here at Volvo Trucks, we are at the forefront of Electromobility, working on systems including alternative fuels such as LNG, hybrid, and full electric vehicles.

Who are you?

Skills/Qualifications

  • City and Guilds, NVQ3, or an equivalent qualification is required
  • You will have completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry or have equivalent experience, along with relevant experience in the commercial vehicle industry.
  • A basic knowledge of computer software packages including Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred, as is a general level of computer literacy.
  • Basic working knowledge of vehicle technology is expected.

What will you do?

  • Ensure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturer’s procedures, safely and responsibly.
  • Ensure repairs are completed in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate.
  • Assist in fault diagnosis.
  • Comply with warranty procedures and warranty material on completion of repairs.
  • Assist with Action Service Europe when required.
  • Work with the Parts Team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted.
  • Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV license).
  • Assist with roadside breakdowns.
  • Ensure company time recording procedures are followed, and job cards are completed accurately.
  • Complete service sheets as per Volvo instructions.
  • Report all vehicle defects to workshop controllers.
  • Maintain workshop facilities, equipment, and tools.
  • Support the development of trainees and apprentices.
