Job summary

Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd in Liverpool is recruiting for the Service Department to cover a Tuesday to Friday night shift from 8:30pm to 7:00am.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will maintain and repair commercial vehicles and trailers, diagnose faults, perform tests and deliver permanent repairs. The role requires NVQ level 2+ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, vehicle diagnosis experience, a current UK driving licence (HGV desirable) and good communication within a team.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or NVQ level 2+ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance required.
• Experience diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles.
• Full and current UK driving licence; HGV licence preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair commercial vehicles/trailers, diagnose faults and perform tests to ensure permanent repairs.
• Complete paperwork relating to warranty, contract and retail work.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and work within the team or independently as required.

Job description

Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for motivated, professional, and versatile individuals to join the Service Department based at our Liverpool site working a Tuesday to Friday night shift pattern from 8:30pm to 7am.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the main job function will be to undertake maintenance and repair activities on commercial vehicles/trailers of all types, to diagnose faults, carry out tests on vehicles and effect permanent and complete repairs.

Other duties within the role will include:

• Completing paperwork and procedures relating to warranty, contract & retail work.
• Preventative maintenance work to minimise unnecessary customer costs.
• Any other duties reasonably within your capabilities as instructed by your manager.

The successful candidates will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

• Obtained a City & Guilds or other adequate qualification to NVQ level 2 or above, in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
• Experience in the diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of vehicles, experience of working on Commercial Vehicles is required.
• Organised and methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail.
• Undertaken manufacturers training courses and maintained knowledge of work methods and technical data.
• Full and current UK driving licence, an HGV licence is preferred but not essential.
• A friendly, confident, and professional manner with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a larger team as well as on their own initiative.
