HGV Technician – Fleet Diagnostics & Maintenance

Job summary

Regional Recruitment is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our maintenance team. The role encompasses inspection, servicing, repairs and maintenance of heavy goods vehicles to keep the fleet safe, roadworthy and efficient.

You will work with a range of mechanical and electrical systems, perform diagnostics and preventative maintenance with a strong emphasis on safety and quality workmanship. Occasional travel to Banbury for holiday cover may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV/LGV technician or similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
• Strong electrical knowledge and practical mechanical skills.
• Experience with diagnostics, servicing and preventive maintenance.
• Knowledge of HGV systems (brakes, transmissions, engines, hydraulics, electrical).
• Welding/fabrication or general equipment maintenance advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out PMI inspections to meet safety and compliance standards.
• Perform inspections, fault finding, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Undertake fabrication, welding, soldering, assembly as required.
• Carry out brake testing and brake system maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and parts used.
• Support repair and maintenance of workshop equipment and machinery.
• Ensure all work adheres to procedures, safety, and industry standards.
• Identify faults and report them appropriately.
• Maintain high safety and workmanship standards.
• Provide holiday cover at Banbury site when required, including travel.
