Job summary

KHR Recruitment Specialists are seeking an experienced HGV Technician for their Gillingham workshop. You will perform routine servicing, PMI inspections, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, and prepare vehicles for MOT. The role requires strong fault-finding skills, experience with HGVs, and a proactive, detail‑oriented approach. Class 1/2 licence beneficial but not essential, salary £40,000–£45,000 per annum.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Servicing/Repair or equivalent.
• Previous experience as an HGV Technician or Mechanic.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience servicing and maintaining HGVs.
• Experience carrying out PMI work.
• Experience working on DAF and/or Mercedes vehicles advantageous.
• Proactive, detail oriented, able to work independently or in a team.
• HGV Class 1 or 2 licence beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Complete PMI (Preventative Maintenance Inspection) work.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
• Carry out mechanical repairs and component replacements.
• Electrical fault finding, repairs and diagnostics.
• Work on braking, suspension, steering and transmission systems.
• Carry out inspections and identify potential faults.
• Maintain and repair vehicle engines and related components.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure roadworthiness.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
