Job summary

Close Brothers Vehicle Hire is seeking an experienced vehicle technician to repair and maintain the fleet to DVSA standards. You will perform mechanical and cosmetic repairs, prepare vehicles for MOT, and complete safety inspections on HGVs and LCVs.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing and maintaining HGVs/LCVs.
• Ability to work to DVSA standards and guidelines.
• Strong team player with a hard-working attitude.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain vehicles owned by CBVH in line with CBVH and DVSA standards.
• Carry out mechanical and cosmetic repairs across a range of vehicle types.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and support MOT process.
• Complete routine six-weekly safety inspections and B services.
• Apply up-to-date vehicle knowledge and use workshop diagnostics safely.
• Perform maintenance per manufacturer instructions and service schedules.
• Conduct visual inspections and replacements of worn components.
• Reset vehicle maintenance systems after servicing or repair.
• Complete warranty repairs per manufacturer guidelines.
• Strip, fit and replace vehicle components as required.
• Respond to customer queries professionally and promptly.
• Meet allocated job timescales and deadlines.
• Provide breakdown support and mobile repair as required.

Join the Close Brothers Vehicle Hire (CBVH) team where you will carry out repair and maintenance work on our fleet of HGVs and LCVs, ensuring they're fit for purpose and in line with CBVH and DVSA standards and guidelines.

You’ll have previous experience in HGV & LCV repairs, cosmetic repairs, preparation of vehicles for MOT testing as well as routine 6 weekly safety inspections. You’ll be a hard worker and a strong team player.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with a team of technicians to repair and maintain vehicles owned by Close Brothers Vehicle Hire or operated by CBVH customers, in line with CBVH and DVSA standards.
• Carry out mechanical and cosmetic repairs across a range of vehicle types.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and present vehicles for MOT as required.
• Complete routine six‑weekly safety inspections and B services in line with maintenance schedules.
• Apply up‑to‑date knowledge of vehicle legislation and safely operate modern workshop diagnostic and technical equipment.
• Perform maintenance services in accordance with manufacturer instructions and service processor schedules.
• Conduct visual inspections, adjustments, fluid changes and replacements, including worn components such as brake linings.
• Reset vehicle maintenance systems following servicing or repair work.
• Complete warranty repairs in line with manufacturer guidelines.
• Strip, fit and replace vehicle components as required.
• Respond to and resolve customer queries in a professional and timely manner.
• Meet allocated job timescales and ensure deadlines are consistently achieved.
• Provide breakdown support and operate from a mobile repair vehicle where required by the business.

• Previous knowledge and experience of HGV repairs and the commercial vehicle Industry
• A hard-working person that is tenacious and resilient with a strong desire to exceed the customers' expectations
• Strong ability to plan and organise
• Practical problem-solving skills
• Passion and drive for getting the job done with evidence of "going the extra mile"

IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU ARE:

• HGV Class 1 driving licence
• IRTE accredited
