Job summary

gap technical are representing a global manufacturing business seeking an HGV Technician for their Bristol facility. Night shifts, £27.50 per hour plus benefits and overtime are offered.

You will maintain HGVs, diagnose faults, and complete breakdowns while ensuring work is documented and meets manufacturer guidelines. The role requires a Class 1 Licence ideally, strong communication, and the ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
• Ideally a Class 1 Licence.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Team player attitude with flexibility.
• Able to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment.
• Irtec training supported after length of service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the company's HGVs.
• Complete all work on time and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Carry out breakdowns and reactive works to high standards and within the given timeframe.
• Accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with the HGVs and communicate findings to teammates and managers.
• Accurately document all work performed.

Performance Objectives

• Responsible for maintaining the company's HGVs.
• Ensuring that all work is completed on time and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Responsible for carrying out all breakdowns and reactive works to high standards and within the given timeframe.
• You should be able to accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with the HGVs, communicate technical information to your teammates, and escalation to relevant managers.
• You should also possess a keen eye for detail and ensure that all work is accurately documented.
• Additionally, you'll demonstrate good diagnostic and fault-finding skills ensuring first-time fix.

Person Specification

• Ideally a Class 1 Licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player attitude, able to recognise and lend a hand where necessary
• A flexible approach to your hours and duties
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ideally, you'll have previous experience in a fast-paced distribution environment. Hold an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent
• Desirably hold your Irtec. Training and funding can however be supported to achieve your HGV Class 1 licence or Irtec after a successful length of service.
