Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd are seeking an HGV Technician to maintain the company’s HGV fleet at a Barnsley facility. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, carry out breakdowns, and ensure work complies with manufacturer guidelines and timelines.

Days only, Mon-Fri. The role requires a strongHands-on approach, clear documentation, and a focus on first-time fixes. NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Licence is ideal.
• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
• Irtec training is desirable and can be supported to achieve the HGV Class 1 licence after length of service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the company's HGVs.
• Complete work on time and in line with manufacturer guidelines.
• Carry out breakdowns and reactive work to high standards within timeframes.
• Accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and communicate findings to teammates.
• Document all work accurately.
• Aim for first-time fixes and effective fault finding.

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a HGV Technician to work at their facility based near Barnsley

Performance Objectives

• Responsible for maintaining the company's HGVs.
• Ensuring that all work is completed on time and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Responsible for carrying out all breakdowns and reactive works to high standards and within the given timeframe.
• You should be able to accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with the HGVs, communicate technical information to your teammates, and escalated any issues to relevant managers.
• You should also possess a keen eye for detail and ensure that all work is accurately documented.
• Additionally, you'll demonstrate good diagnostic and fault-finding skills ensuring first-time fix.

Person Specification

• Ideally a Class 1 Licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player attitude, able to recognise and lend a hand where necessary
• A flexible approach to your hours and duties
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ideally, you'll have previous experience in a fast-paced distribution environment. Hold an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent
• Desirably hold your Irtec. Training and funding can however be supported to achieve your HGV Class 1 licence or Irtec after a successful length of service.
