Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd. is recruiting an HGV Technician to maintain a fleet of heavy goods vehicles at a facility near Bristol, working night shifts. The role offers £27.50 per hour plus benefits and overtime.

You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, complete breakdowns and reactive work to high standards, document all work accurately, and strive for first-time fixes while communicating clearly with the team.

Qualifications

• Ideally hold NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
• Class 1 Licence ideal.
• Excellent communication skills and team player.
• Able to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment.
• Irtec qualification desirable (funding available).

Responsibilities

• Maintain company's HGVs.
• Complete work on time and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Carry out breakdowns and reactive work to high standards.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in HGVs and escalate as needed.
• Accurately document all work.
• Demonstrate diagnostic and fault-finding skills to achieve first-time fix.

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a HGV Technician to work at their facility based near Bristol

Performance Objectives

• Responsible for maintaining the company's HGVs.
• Ensuring that all work is completed on time and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Responsible for carrying out all breakdowns and reactive works to high standards and within the given timeframe.
• You should be able to accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with the HGVs, communicate technical information to your teammates, and escalation any issues to relevant managers.
• You should also possess a keen eye for detail and ensure that all work is accurately documented.
• Additionally, you'll demonstrate good diagnostic and fault-finding skills ensuring first-time fix.

Person Specification

• Ideally a Class 1 Licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player attitude, able to recognise and lend a hand where necessary
• A flexible approach to your hours and duties
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ideally, you'll have previous experience in a fast-paced distribution environment. Hold an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent
• Desirably hold your Irtec. Training and funding can however be supported to achieve your HGV Class 1 licence or Irtec after a successful length of service.
