Job summary

Work Lyf Group Ltd in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join a busy workshop. The successful candidate will inspect, diagnose, and repair HGVs, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

The role may involve overtime during peak periods and offers a supportive, family-run environment. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of HGV experience, strong safety awareness, good diagnostic skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with HGVs.
• Strong understanding of health & safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine safety inspections on HGVs.
• Complete pre-MOT preparation and rectify defects.
• Perform emergency and breakdown repairs as required.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out repairs.
• Work flexibly and overtime during busy periods.
• Undertake welding and fabrication tasks (desirable).
• Maintain compliance with DVSA standards and company procedures.
• Keep workshop and areas clean, tidy, and safe.
• Accurately complete job cards and paperwork.
• Follow company rules and health & safety requirements.

HGV Mechanic / Technician – Stoke-on-Trent

Location: Stoke-on-Trent • Job Type: Full-time • Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine safety inspections on HGVs
• Complete pre-MOT preparation and rectify defects
• Perform emergency and breakdown repairs as required
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out effective repairs
• Work flexibly and remain calm under pressure, including occasional overtime during busy periods
• Undertake welding and fabrication tasks (desirable but not essential)
• Maintain compliance with DVSA standards and company maintenance procedures
• Keep the workshop and work areas clean, tidy, and safe
• Accurately complete job cards and all associated paperwork
• Follow all company rules, regulations, and health & safety requirements

Requirements

• C+E licence preferred but not essential
• Welding/fabrication experience beneficial but not required
