Job summary

Veolia are seeking a skilled HGV Technician in Totton (SO40 area) to service and repair a diverse fleet of over 100 vehicle types. The role offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a competitive salary and a £3,000 sign-on bonus.

You will work in a well-equipped workshop, perform routine maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure safety and compliance. Veolia provides a pension, wellbeing resources, training, and discounts.

Qualifications

• LGV/HGV Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical repair knowledge and diagnostic ability.
• Solid understanding of health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on RCVs and light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify faults in a well-equipped workshop.
• Ensure safe handling of vehicles and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Liaise with Workshop Manager to obtain correct parts.
• Keep job cards and service sheets up-to-date.

Salary: £39,520 plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 Hours per week Monday-Friday

What will you be doing

• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on all RCV's waste management and light commercial vehicle`s
• Diagnose and rectify all types of faults within a well-equipped workshop
• Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
• Liaise with the Workshop manager to attain correct parts
• Ensure health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
• Ensure all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
• Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses

What are we looking for

• Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks
• High level of technical knowledge and ability in mechanical repair
• Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
• LGV Level 3/ HGV Level 3 in heavy vehicle mechanics, Maintenance & Repair or Equivalent
• Class C Licence - Desirable but not essential (opportunities for training)
• Thorough Knowledge of current HGV MOT regulations and standards
• IRTEC Licence and/or Waste/RCV vehicle experience would be desirable
