Job summary

You will conduct repairs and routine maintenance on HGVs, fault-diagnose using advanced tools, and support trainees as part of a committed workshop environment with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Proven experience as an HGV Technician; Volvo experience advantageous but not essential.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills as an HGV Technician.
• Proactive approach with excellent attention to safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct repairs and routine maintenance on HGVs according to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform fault diagnosis using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Assist in road tests where HGV licences are held.
• Ensure full compliance with warranty procedures and accurately record all work performed.
• Support parts team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted.
• Complete all necessary documentation, including job cards and service sheets following Volvo standards.
• Report vehicle defects and maintain workshop facilities to high standards.
• Support roadside breakdowns as required.
• Contribute to the mentorship and training of new trainees and apprentices.

Our client, a reputable commercial vehicle service provider based in Reading, Berkshire, is actively seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their dedicated team.

• Up to £23 per hour, depending on experience
• Rotating shifts: 6am – 2.30pm and 2.30pm – 11pm, Monday to Friday
• Overtime paid at x1.5 Monday to Saturday and x2.0 on Sundays and Bank Holidays
• 25 days holiday, increasing to 30 days with length of service
