Job summary

Perfect Placement is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join a reputable, family-run haulage and transport company in Walton-on-Thames. The role offers a competitive hourly rate with overtime, full training, and clear career progression within a stable team environment.

You will service and maintain a fleet of around 50 lorries and trailers, conduct preventative inspections, and perform repairs to keep vehicles in optimal condition. Tools are provided, with personal basic tools required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or fleet technician.
• No formal qualifications required; relevant HGV experience essential.
• Class 1 or Class 2 licences are desirable but not essential.
• Owns basic tools necessary for mechanical work.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a fleet of ~50 lorries, mainly Volvos and DAFs, alongside trailers.
• Conducting preventative maintenance inspections and defect repairs on HGVs and trailers.
• Performing general mechanical repairs to ensure vehicles remain in optimal condition.
• Ensuring efficient workshop operations through teamwork and communication.
• Supporting business growth by mentoring less experienced mechanics when needed.
• Using personal basic tools for daily tasks, with the company's specialist tools available for heavier work.
