Job summary

Tru Talent in Pontefract is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop. You will carry out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance to keep fleet vehicles safe and on the road.

The role offers ongoing training, career development and opportunities for overtime; you will work Mon-Fri with shifts 06:00-14:30 or 13:30-22:00, and maintain accurate records and documentation.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI qualification in HGV Vehicle Repair & Maintenance.
• Previous HGV Technician/Mechanic experience.
• Full UK driving licence with relevant vehicle classes.
• BPW or LOLER experience/qualifications.
• Roadside or breakdown repair experience.
• Diagnostic and fault-finding experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out major and minor repairs on HGVs, trailers and other commercial vehicles.
• Complete regular inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Carry out servicing and general maintenance, including tyre and oil-related checks.
• Diagnose faults and plan repairs with the workshop team.
• Provide roadside repair and breakdown assistance when required.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicles inspected and repaired.
• Complete all relevant documentation and paperwork; process warranty claims where appropriate.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop; ensure work is aligned with DVSA standards.

Truck Technician / HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in Pontefract.

The Role of the HGV Technician:

• Carry out major and minor repairs on HGVs, trailers and other commercial vehicles
• Complete regular inspections and preventative maintenance
• Carry out servicing and general maintenance, including tyre and oil-related checks
• Diagnose faults and work with the repair team to plan and complete repairs
• Provide roadside repair and breakdown assistance when required
• Maintain accurate records of vehicles inspected and repaired
• Complete all relevant documentation and paperwork
• Process warranty claims or elevate where appropriate
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
• Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally and in line with DVSA standards

Requirements of the HGV Technician:

• Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI qualification in HGV Vehicle Repair & Maintenance
• Previous HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or Truck Technician experience
• Ability to identify worn and faulty components to DVSA standards
• Full UK driving licence with relevant vehicle classes
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• BPW or LOLER experience/qualifications
• Roadside or breakdown repair experience
• Diagnostic and fault-finding experience

Hours: Monday-Friday | 06:00-14:30 and 13:30-22:00, alternating weekly
