Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd. is recruiting an HGV Technician to join a global manufacturing business near Cumbernauld. The role is days only, Mon-Fri, with a salary of £48,700.

You will maintain the company’s HGV fleet, diagnose faults and carry out breakdowns in line with manufacturer guidelines, ensuring first-time fixes and accurate documentation. The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance (or equivalent), ideally with a Class 1 licence and Irtec

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent.
• Irtec qualification would be desirable and training may be supported after length of service.
• Class 1 licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the company's HGVs.
• Ensure all work is completed on time and in line with manufacturer guidelines.
• Carry out breakdowns and reactive work to high standards and within timeframes.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and communicate findings to teammates.
• Document all work accurately and thoroughly.
• Demonstrate strong fault-finding skills to achieve first-time fix.

HGV Technician

£48,700 Cumbernauld Days Only (Mon-Fri) gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a HGV Technician to work at their facility based near Cumbernauld

Performance Objectives

• Responsible for maintaining the company's HGVs.
• Ensuring that all work is completed on time and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Responsible for carrying out all breakdowns and reactive works to high standards and within the given timeframe.
• You should be able to accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with the HGVs, communicate technical information to your teammates, and escape any issues to relevant managers.
• You should also possess a keen eye for detail and ensure that all work is accurately documented.
• Additionally, you'll demonstrate good diagnostic and fault-finding skills ensuring first-time fix.

Person Specification

• Ideally a Class 1 Licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player attitude, able to recognise and lend a hand where necessary
• A flexible approach to your hours and duties
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ideally, you'll have previous experience in a fast-paced distribution environment. Hold an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent
• Desirably hold your Irtec. Training and funding can however be supported to achieve your HGV Class 1 licence or Irtec after a successful length of service.
