Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd in Crewe is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to service and repair our fleet at the Crewe facility. You will diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, perform breakdowns, and ensure work complies with manufacturer guidelines.

This role is days only with a pay rate of £21.49 per hour plus up to 35% shift uplift and benefits. Applicants should hold a Class 1 licence and relevant NVQ/City & Guilds in heavy vehicle maintenance; Irtec desirable.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Licence preferred.
• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance.
• Irtec qualification desirable (training funded after length of service).

Responsibilities

• Maintain the company's HGVs and ensure work is completed to manufacturer guidelines.
• Carry out breakdowns and reactive repairs to high standards within timeframes.
• Accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and communicate findings to the team.
• Document all work accurately and ensure first-time fix where possible.

Performance Objectives

• Responsible for maintaining the company's HGVs.
• Ensuring that all work is completed on time and in compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Responsible for carrying out all breakdowns and reactive works to high standards and within the given timeframe.
• You should be able to accurately diagnose electrical and mechanical faults with the HGVs, communicate technical information to your teammates, and elevate any issues to relevant managers.
• You should also possess a keen eye for detail and ensure that all work is accurately documented.
• Additionally, you'll demonstrate good diagnostic and fault-finding skills ensuring first-time fix.

Person Specification

• Ideally a Class 1 Licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Team player attitude, able to recognise and lend a hand where necessary
• A flexible approach to your hours and duties
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ideally, you'll have previous experience in a fast-paced distribution environment. Hold an NVQ Level 3 or City & Guild Level 2 in heavy vehicle maintenance or equivalent
• Desirably hold your Irtec. Training and funding can however be supported to achieve your HGV Class 1 licence or Irtec after a successful length of service.
