Job summary

1111 Recruitment Ltd is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic/Heavy Vehicle Technician for our workshop in Thornbury, Bristol. The role covers inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of a fleet of heavy goods vehicles to keep them safe and compliant.

Key duties include routine servicing, fault diagnosis, MOT preparation, planning preventative maintenance, and on-site repairs. Candidates should have Level 2/3 NVQ or equivalent and a valid UK driving licence where applicable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, or Heavy Vehicle Technician.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
• Perform MOT preparation and ensure vehicles meet legal compliance standards.
• Complete vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our growing maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, roadworthy, and compliant with all relevant regulations.
