Talent Finder is seeking skilled HGV Technicians in Croydon for full-time hours. The role includes fault diagnosis, roadside support, and collaboration with the Parts Team to ensure safe, compliant repairs.

You will work rotating shifts (6:00–2:30 and 2:30–11:00) with overtime on weekends and double time on Sundays. NVQ3/City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance required, UK driving licence essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Fully qualified HGV Technician with relevant experience.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to work the full rotating shift pattern.
• Strong mechanical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Carry out repairs according to manufacturer procedures and required standards.
• Assist with fault diagnosis and support roadside breakdowns.
• Work with Parts Team and workshop controllers to ensure correct maintenance.
• Road test vehicles when required if you hold an HGV licence.
• Complete service sheets and job cards accurately and on time.
• Report vehicle defects to workshop controllers.

Working Pattern & Salary

• Monday to Friday
• Rotating shifts: 6:00 am–2:30 pm / 2:30 pm–11:00 pm
• 40 hours per week paid
• Salary up to £26 per hour, depending on skills and experience
• Overtime available Saturday and Sunday
• Double time on Sunday

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring repairs are carried out safely and responsibly, in accordance with manufacturer procedures and required standards.

You will assist with fault diagnosis, support roadside breakdowns and work with the Parts Team and workshop controllers to ensure vehicles are maintained correctly.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer's procedures, safely and responsibly
• Ensure repairs are carried out in accordance with standard times using special tools where appropriate
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process
• Comply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty material on completion of each repair
• Work with the Parts Team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fitted
• Road test vehicles when required if you hold an HGV licence
• Assist with roadside breakdowns
• Ensure company time recording procedures are complied with, and that job cards are completed accurately
• Ensure service sheets are completed as per instructions
• Ensure all vehicle defects are reported to workshop controllers
• Keep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
• Wear personal protective equipment when appropriate
• Support the development of young trainees and apprentices

Requirements

Essential

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
• Fully qualified HGV Technician
• Relevant HGV technician experience
• Strong mechanical, diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
• A proactive attitude with a focus on customer service and safety
• A full UK driving licence
• Flexibility to work the full rotating shift pattern

Desirable

• Previous experience working for an HGV manufacturer or dealer
• Experience with Scania, Volvo Trucks, DAF, Renault Trucks or other major HGV manufacturers/dealers
• HGV driving licence
