Job summary

Autoskills-Uk Lincoln is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to inspect, repair and service heavy goods vehicles to DVSA standards. The role involves preparing vehicles for MOT testing, diagnosing faults with specialist diagnostic equipment, and working within a professional workshop to minimise downtime. Qualifications

Responsibilities

HGV Technician - Lincoln

Location: Lincoln

Salary:£44,393 per annum

Hours: Rotating Early / Late Shift

Saturday: Rotating Saturday morning - paid at time and a half

Shift Pattern

Week 1 - Early Shift

Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 3:30pm

Week 2 - Late Shift

Monday - Friday: 1:00pm - 10:30pm

Rotating Saturday

7:00am - 12:00 midday

Saturday hours paid at time and a half.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Inspecting and repairing HGVs to DVSA standards.
• Carrying out servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOT testing.
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using specialist diagnostic equipment.
• Carrying out general mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Attending off-site breakdowns when required.
• Completing repair documentation and job sheets accurately.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Working as part of a professional workshop team to minimise vehicle downtime.

About You

We're looking for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician with:

• Relevant NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification.
• Previous HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic fault‑finding skills.
• A reliable and professional approach to work.
• Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Main dealer experience is advantageous, but candidates from all commercial vehicle backgrounds will be considered.
