Job summary

Consult2Recruit is assisting in recruiting an HGV Technician for a Coventry workshop operating Monday to Friday, 06:00–16:00. You will service, inspect and repair a busy fleet, with the option for Sunday overtime at enhanced rates.

You should have HGV experience, a full UK driving licence (HGV licence preferred but not essential) and your own tools. IRTEC training opportunities are available and progression is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience as an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and diagnostic systems for HGVs.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and inspections on HGVs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Perform engine, gearbox and other complex repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance and safety checks.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain workshop efficiency.
• Mentor apprentices and junior technicians as required.

HGV Technician - Early Shift

Coventry | Permanent | Monday to Friday | 06:00-16:00

• 45-hour week with overtime paid at time and a half
• Sunday overtime available at double time - completely optional

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established and growing business within the waste management industry, who are looking to add an experienced HGV Technician to their workshop team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician who wants good working hours, strong overtime rates and a genuine work-life balance.

Working from 06:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday, you'll have your evenings free, with the option to work Sundays at double time if you want to increase your earnings.

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for keeping a busy commercial vehicle fleet safe, reliable and roadworthy.

• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and inspections on HGVs
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults
• Carrying out engine, gearbox and other complex repairs
• Completing preventative maintenance and safety checks
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety requirements
• Working closely with colleagues to maintain workshop efficiency
• Supporting and mentoring apprentices and junior technicians where required

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic
• Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical, electrical and diagnostic systems
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• A full UK driving licence, with an HGV licence preferred but not essential
• Your own tools

IRTEC qualification is highly desirable, although candidates without IRTEC will also be considered. Training and support towards gaining the qualification may be available for the right person.
