Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic for a major food manufacturer in the London area. The role involves servicing and repairing a fleet of HGV/ LGV vehicles (DAF & IVECO), with a 4 on 4 off day schedule and 6am–6pm shifts.

You will work on engine mechanics, vehicle electrics, hydraulics and gearboxes, ensuring DVSA MOT readiness. UK driving licence required; NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working on commercial vehicles & HGV fleets.
• Experience servicing trucks and trailers within a fleet maintenance operation.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, gearboxes and vehicle electrics.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and servicing of the HGV & LGV vehicles in the fleet.
• Carry out maintenance work on a mixed fleet of DAF & IVECO trucks.
• Work on engine mechanics, vehicle electrics, hydraulics, gearboxes.
• Minor maintenance & repairs of forklift trucks.
• Ensure that all vehicles are inspected and meet DVSA MOT requirements.
• Work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Complete all service schedule paperwork.

Do you want to work for a leading food manufacturer, that values hard work, teamwork and developing people. They are part of a global group with multiple sites in the UK, this is their biggest factory employing over 500 people. They are looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic to service and repair their vehicle fleet.

Role & Responsibilities

• Maintenance and servicing of the HGV & LGV vehicles in the fleet

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Previous experience of working on commercial vehicles & HGV fleet
• Experience working on trucks, tractor engines, trailers within a fleet maintenance operation
• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or similar)
• Beneficial if hold a Class 1 or 2 driving licence
• Must have UK Driving Licence
• Good knowledge of vehicle electrics for fault diagnostics
• Excellent communication skills
• Previously worked with hydraulics & gearboxes
• Any experience of servicing & maintaining forklifts would be beneficial
• Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
