Job summary

Mller Milk & Ingredients Distribution at Glasgow Depot is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to service and repair our modern fleet within a busy transport operation. You will work in our Transport Department to keep vehicles safe and compliant.

The role is full time and permanent with 5 days over 7. The pay includes £20.84–£26.69 per hour with enhanced overtime and weekend premiums, plus holiday and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Qualifications include City & Guilds Part 2 & 3, BTEC or IMI in motor vehicle management.
• Commercial experience on HGVs is essential.
• Class C+E licence preferable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain our HGV fleet.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and transport to test centre.
• Record vehicle defects and keep accurate records of work.
• Repair minor accident damage and carry out fault diagnosis.

Job description

We are currently looking to recruit for HGV Mechanic to join our Transport Department at our Glasgow Depot within our Mller Milk & Ingredients Distribution business.

This is a great opportunity for HGV Mechanic looking to work for a prestigious logistics company, servicing and repairing a modern well maintained fleet of vehicles.

The purpose of this role is to Repair and Maintain our HGV Fleet to comply with legal and company standards. Candidates will be responsible for actively seeking solutions to challenges and for embracing a safe and efficient operating approach to their work.

Shift Patterns

5 days over 7 - 47.5 hours - AM (flexible start times)

Rate of Pay

£20.84 per hour - £26.69 per hour (OTE £51k per annum)

Shift Premiums

• Saturday - £22.45 per hour
• Sunday - £29.69 per hour
• Overtime / Bank Holiday - £29.69 per hour
• Unsociable (hours worked between 1800-0400) - £22.78 per hour

HGV Mechanic Responsibilities (will include but not be limited to the following):

• To inspect and maintain our HGV Fleet
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and transport to test centre
• To record vehicle defects and keep accurate records of work carried out on each vehicle
• Repair minor accident damage
• Carry out fault diagnosis
• To put safety first regarding all aspects of the role

HGV Mechanic Key Skills & Experience

• Qualifications required City & Guilds part 2 & 3 / BTEC / IMI in motor vehicle management or equivalent practical experience in the commercial vehicle industry.
• Commercial experience on HGV's is essential
• Class C+E licence preferable but not essential
• Works well both independently and in a team
• Manages deadlines well and understands how to prioritise a workload
